Rear Admiral Ben Wachendorf Joins Echostorm Worldwide
Suffolk, Va. – EchoStorm Worldwide, a subsidiary of Earl Industries LLC, announces the appointment of Rear Admiral Ben Wachendorf as Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining EchoStorm, Admiral Wachendorf served as Chief of Staff of the US Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) in Suffolk, Va., a position he had held since 2006. USJFCOM is one of nine combatant commands in the United States Department of Defense, and the only combatant command focused on joint transformation of the US military through experimentation and training.
At USJFCOM, Admiral Wachendorf was responsible for managing the command’s warfighting initiatives and providing guidance to the command’s executive staff on day-to-day matters. Additionally, he supervised all of the command’s administrative issues.
The Admiral will be joining more than 80 staff at EchoStorm, a five-year-old company that has become the world leader in providing highly-innovative video and data management technology to military, government, and commercial sectors. The company is expected to experience more rapid growth in the coming years.

Some of the highlights of the Admiral’s 34-year career include having served afloat on both nuclear powered attack and strategic missile submarines of the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets — including command of USS Parche (SSN-683). He also commanded Submarine Development Squadron FIVE in San Diego, Calif.
His shore assignments included US Defense Attaché to Russia, Deputy Assistant for CNO/VCNO Decision Coordination, and Branch Head for Anti-submarine Warfare. He also served as Chief of Joint Staff Nuclear/Counter-Proliferation Division, Executive Assistant to the Joint Staff Director of Strategic Plans and Policy (J-5), and Director of the OPNAV Strategy and Policy Division (N51).
Admiral Wachendorf graduated with distinction from the US Naval Academy in 1974 with majors in mathematics and Soviet Area Studies-Russian. He has studied international relations in German as an Olmsted Scholar at the University of Zurich, and he received a Master of Science in engineering degree from Catholic University. He also attended the Senior Officials in National Security program at Harvard University and graduated from the Senior Officer Course at the Naval War College.
